How do KS1, KS2 and KS3 fit with Learning Huddle?

Education in the UK is based on the Curriculum for Excellence and Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 (KS1, KS2 and KS3).  This is the backbone structure to teaching within Britain.  The Curriculum for Excellence is used in Scotland and KS1, KS2 and KS3 in the rest of the UK.  Learning Huddle supports both the Curriculum for Excellence and Key Stages. This page focuses on Key stages, you can find out more about the Curriculum for Excellence here.

The key stages currently supported by Learning Huddle are:

Teachers already know that KS1, KS2 and KS3 are based on three core subjects: English, Maths and Science.  These are accompanied by nine foundation subjects: Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Geography, History, Design and Technology (DT), Physical Education (PE), Citizenship, Music, Art and  Design and Modern Foreign Languages.

Learning Huddle aims to support KS1, KS2 and KS3 in the majority of these areas.  Support is achieved by providing Topics that enable the teaching of these subjects in a cross curriculum manner.  Learning Huddle provides worksheets, lessons, flashcards and more.  These all combine to provide a great tool box for teachers using KS1, KS2 and KS3.

Skills for KS1, KS2 and KS3

At Learning Huddle we passionately believe that Topics can be very effective in supporting children whilst developing key skills.  The core key skills are:

Communication A key part of using Topics is children working together as they progress through a topic.  They learn to share information both orally and in written form.  We include worksheets that encourage presentation and interclass participation.
Application of number One of the great things about Topics is their ability to morph seamlessly from one subject to another.  So not surprisingly Learning Huddle is strong when it comes to supplying material for application of number.
Information technology Learning Huddle clearly has its foundations in technology. However we don't just look at technology but also its application and its association with communication in all forms.
Working with others One of the great things about using topics is the possibility of introducing lots of opportunity for working with others.  It's easy to get pupils building displays together or giving speeches in the Roman senate!
Improving own learning and performance At Learning Huddle we believe in pupil-led learning.  When we designed our quiz system we built in a self-correcting capability.  This allows the pupil to work at their own pace.  Importantly though, pupils are not alone because we provide great monitoring for teachers to allow them to use early intervention when necessary (available as part of a school package only).
Problem solving Building KS1, KS2 and KS3 skills has to include lots of problem solving opportunities.  With Topics this is a breeze.  For example you can get pupils thinking about the Romans in our Roman topic.
